Cargo Surveys
We have a team of Marine Experts and Marine Surveyors from various backgrounds including Master Mariners, Marine Engineers, Naval Architects and Nautical Experts with long experience in marine, air and inland transport of practically every type of cargo and the capacity of ascertaining its condition as well as the cause of practically any damage, shortage or contamination to cargo.
The type of surveys we carry out include:
Precautionary Surveys
Quality and quantity surveys and certifications
Sampling and laboratory analysis
Monitoring of loading and discharge operations
- Minerals ā Grains - Liquid cargoes, - Steel ā Chemicals ā Perishables - etc.
We can take representative samples of any commodity in accordance to any specific standard. We work with independent and suitable laboratories that carry out the necessary analysis in order to ascertain the composition and quality of any commodity. We also perform some on-the-spot tests like i.e. radioactivity (steel), size (minerals), moisture (grains), chlorides (salt), etc. Upon collecting all the information needed, and after checking the results of the laboratory analyses we are able to provide our principals with the relevant certificates of quality along with supporting documents.
Regarding the quantity surveys of any marine cargo in bulk, the volume is normally determined by performing an initial and final draft survey calculation. The accuracy of a draft survey mostly depends upon the expertise of the person in charge of reading the drafts, as sea conditions can complicate this task. Also the way in which the values stated in the hydrostatic tables are interpretated will be reflected in the results of the calculations. Our experts carry out the most accurate draft surveys taking into consideration every natural and physical factor and we provide our clients with the relevant certificates and the supporting documents and data collected during our attendances. If necessary, we can also perform weightbridge scale controls.
Investigations of losses, damages and shortages
We carry out surveys and investigations on every type of damaged cargoes, from a single fallen container unit up to consequential losses due to a collision. We have a wide experience surveying sea water ingresses into holds, mechanical damage to cargoes, pilferage, leakages, spillages, floodings, fire, groundings, contaminations of cargo, shortages, breakdowns of refrigeration systems, improper stowage, etc, and we ascertain the cause and the extent of the damage and advise our principals in respect to the best possible ways to solve or mitigate any problem. We act on stricktly without prejudice basis, in a very commited and methodic way and with a very pro-active attitude.
Containerized cargoes
Sampling, stowage and lashing Certificates
Having a wide experience in dealing with all types containerized cargoes, we give technical advise on the way in which the cargoes must be stowed, secured and lashed up. We provide our clients with the relevant lashing certificates and advise them about the way in which the cargo must be stowed into the container in order to avoid any damage. We can take samples of the cargo and perform all necessary tests to determine the cargo quality and condition.
Perishables in bulk, palletized and in containers, refrigerated and non refrigerated cargoes.
Our experts carry out all types of surveys in perishable and refrigerated cargoes, advising the way in which the cargoes must be packed in and stowed in. We check and give advise on temperature records, ethylene levels, ventilation, etc.
Preloading surveys - Tally services (Steel profiles, steel rebars, wire-rod, steel coils, vehicles, paper reels, glass cassettes, etc).
